Meet The Team

Principal - Alex Weaver

Alex trained professionally in dance and musical theatre at Liberatus School of Performing Arts, having received the John Partridge Musical Theatre Scholarship, and graduated in 2016. Prior to this he completed a HND in Musical Theatre at South West Academy of Dramatic Art and since graduating has completed a BA Hons in Theatre at Guildford School of Acting.
Performing Arts has always played a big part in Alex’s life, having taken many dance and music exams growing up and achieving qualifications in ballet, tap and modern (ISTD), singing (LCM), piano (ABRSM) and most recently passing his EFP exam with the Estill Voice Model.

Alex has worked extensively as a performer having appeared in musicals, plays and pantomimes up and down the country, with some of his favourite roles including Princeton/Rod in Avenue Q, Rum Tum Tugger in Cats and Widow Twankey in Aladdin.

As an accomplished teacher, Alex has over a decade of experience teaching all aspects of performing arts. During this time he has taught in primary and secondary schools, as well as post-16 education, with students ranging from as young as four years old all the way through to industry professionals. Specialising as a vocal coach in recent years, Alex has prepared many students for exams, for which he proudly holds a 100% pass rate, and has helped prepare students for auditions which has seen them acquire places at top performing arts schools.

Alex began teaching for Stagecoach in 2015 as a dance and singing teacher, and since then has taught all three disciplines across Early, Main and Further Stages. During this time he has, at some point or other, taught at almost every Stagecoach school in the Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire area and has created work that has been showcased at the Stagecoach Charity Gala, at which he was also a finalist for the “Outstanding Singing Teacher Award”.

Alex is very proud to be the principal of Stagecoach Yate, which holds a very special place in his heart as one of the first Stagecoach schools he ever taught at!
